Founder

Hi, I’m Luisa — a Colombian mom raising trilingual children in English, Spanish, and Chinese, and the creator behind LuluTom and Montilinguals.

Spanish is my native language, but I learned Chinese as an adult and am the only Chinese speaker in our home — a reality that has made our multilingual journey both uniquely challenging and deeply rewarding. ✨

When I began this journey over five years ago, I struggled to find language-learning resources for families like mine — especially for parents teaching a language they didn’t grow up speaking. So I created what I couldn’t find: books, videos, flashcards, and printables designed to help children learn languages through play, connection, and culture.

As my children continue to grow, so does this work. Little by little, I’m turning everything I’ve created at home into books, videos, and free printables, so more families and educators can confidently bring languages to life in their homes and classrooms.

LuluTom is a growing platform created to support real multilingual families — from first words and phonics to cultural celebrations and early writing — with tools that are joyful, practical, and grounded in everyday family life.

Whether you’re passing on your native language or learning alongside your child, I’m here to help you make language learning meaningful, playful, and deeply connected.

Let’s raise multilinguals together — one adventure at a time.

✨ Let’s begin this multilingual adventure — one word, one story, and one smile at a time.

WHAT IS LULUTOM?

LuluTom is a multilingual learning platform created from my real-life journey raising trilingual children.

What began as a small YouTube channel—Nihao My Amigos—teaching foundational words in multiple languages has grown into a thoughtfully designed educational ecosystem for families and educators.

Today, LuluTom offers:

  • Children’s books

  • Free printables and hands-on activities

  • Interactive videos and learning guides

  • Blog content to support multilingual parenting

All resources are designed to make language learning playful, accessible, and meaningful—even for parents teaching a language they didn’t grow up speaking.

LuluTom goes beyond vocabulary. Through English, Spanish, and Chinese (with growing collections in French and Portuguese), children are introduced to culture, science, art, and the world, building language alongside understanding and connection.

At its heart, LuluTom exists to empower parents and educators with clear tools, simple strategies, and gentle structure—so children can grow into confident, curious, and culturally aware multilingual learners.

Whether you’re starting with first words, exploring reading and writing, or navigating your own multilingual parenting journey, LuluTom is here to support you—one word, one tool, and one adventure at a time.

✨ Together, we celebrate the power of multilingualism.

LuluTom Language Code System

At LULUTOM, I’ve developed a unique color-coding system for each language featured in our books, videos, and resources. This system has been a game-changer in our multilingual home, helping my trilingual children stay organized, make clear connections between languages, and become literate in English, Spanish, and Chinese. It’s made language learning both fun and effective for our family!

The LULUTOM Color-Coded Language System is designed to empower multilingual schools and families in fostering literacy development. By assigning each language a unique color, it emphasizes visual distinction, making it easy to identify and differentiate between languages.

We’ve included this system across a range of LULUTOM resources, like color-coded alphabet letter card sets, moveable alphabets, books, videos, games, and interactive activities, all tailored to encourage and empower multilingual learners. By offering visually organized and engaging materials, this system supports the structured development of literacy skills in a way that’s intuitive, effective, and enjoyable for learners of all ages.

Here are the colors assigned to each language:

  • Spanish: Green

  • English: Blue

  • French: Purple

  • Chinese: Red

  • Portuguese: Brown

This color-coding system doesn’t just keep materials organized; it enhances the learning experience by making it visually engaging and easy to navigate.

Why the LULUTOM Color-Coded Language System Matters

  1. Visual Clarity

    • Enhances Recognition: The distinct colors make it easy for learners to recognize and differentiate between languages, reducing confusion, especially in multilingual environments.

    • Minimizes Mix-Ups: This is especially helpful for young learners or beginners navigating multiple languages.

  2. Organizational Efficiency

    • Streamlines Learning: Color-coded resources like alphabet cards, games, and videos simplify teaching and learning by keeping materials visually structured.

    • Supports Multilingual Dynamics: Families and educators can quickly switch between languages, making multilingual instruction smoother and more efficient.

  3. Cognitive Benefits

    • Boosts Memory Retention: Associating each language with a specific color aids in memory retention and recall, making learning more effective.

    • Strengthens Associations: Visual cues help learners form stronger connections between colors and languages, reinforcing understanding.

  4. Accessibility

    • Supports Visual Learners: The system caters to visual learners who thrive on color differentiation and structure.

    • Inclusive Learning: It provides added support for learners with specific needs, offering clarity and organization.

The LULUTOM Color-Coded Language System is more than just a teaching tool—it’s a practical, engaging, and effective way to make multilingual learning accessible, enjoyable, and impactful for children and families alike.

Let’s make learning languages vibrant, organized, and fun!
