Hi, I’m Luisa — a Colombian mom raising my children in English, Spanish, and Mandarin Chinese, and the creator of LuluTom.
Spanish is my native language, and I learned Mandarin as an adult after living in China. Today, I’m the only Mandarin speaker in our home.
As my children grew, I began noticing something that changed the way I thought about raising multilingual children: knowing a language wasn’t enough. We needed the words for the conversations we were actually having.
When the words were there, we could keep talking. When they weren’t, it was easy to switch to English.
That experience became the heart of LuluTom.
I began creating books, videos, printables, and activities around the words we needed in everyday life — from the things my children noticed when they were little to the ideas they wanted to talk about as they grew.
Today, LuluTom helps multilingual families build the vocabulary they need to keep their languages part of everyday life.
Because keeping a language alive isn’t just about learning words.
It’s about having a relationship that can live in that language.
